Archie Michaels and the Devil

Archie Michaels and the Devil

: The Battle to Save Western Civilization

by Charles Haegele

This is a story about a people on a tropical island who mistake their government for God. So, when the government tells them that they cannot wear a cross around their necks in public, that stealing isn't really stealing if it is less than a certain amount of money, and that Christmas is an outdated idea, the people start to accept it. The Devil, who is controlling the government, will make this island the beachhead for her quest to put all the earth under her dominion.

God chooses an unlikely man, the manager of a fast-food chicken chain, to battle the Devil. Archie Micheals defies God's intentions and cooperates with the Devil because she makes him Governor of the island and he and his wife live in luxury. The Devil will kill Archie if he doesn't continue cooperating, while his wife argues that if he continues down this path, he won't like the ending.

About The Author

Hello Readers,

When I was young, I served a tour in Vietnam with the Marines. Following my military service, I practiced Optometry for 40 years. After retiring, I turned my focus to writing stories.

In the short story "Three Fathers," three teammates win a Junior High School basketball game and have a post-game celebration that ends differently for each boy because of his father.

"The Reluctant Marine" is a short story about a young man who finds that faith is the only way he can cope with war.

" Other Gods" is a novella about a society that comes to believe that they themselves are gods, which leads to an unforeseen consequence.

"Archie Michaels and the Devil: The Battle to Save Western Civilization" is a novella about a society that mistakes their government for their God leading to a climatic battle on Christmas Eve..

My intent in writing is to entertain readers by telling stories about the variations of man's relationship with God that they can find themselves in.
