She Loved Them Both: a Love Story in Leather and Dust

by Sarah B. Thomas -

She Loved Them Both is a tender, unforgettable Southern story of love, loss, and the roads not taken.

Reba Jean had a fire in her spirit and two very different men tugging at her heart. One was wild and untamed. The other, steady and sure. What came between them—and what she carried for the rest of her life—was a secret she never meant to keep.

Set in the dusty heart of 1940s Arkansas and spanning generations, this is a story of choices made young and the echoes they leave behind. When her granddaughters uncover the pieces of Reba Jean’s past, they begin to realize just how much love can shape a life—and how much of a woman’s heart can remain hidden.

She Loved Them Both is a love story wrapped in leather and dust—raw, romantic, and quietly devastating.

About the Author

author Sarah Thomas

Sarah B. Thomas writes with the grit of red clay and the rhythm of a Southern storm. A lifelong South Carolina Girl and English teacher with Arkansas roots, she spins stories full of leather, dust, and the impossible choices women make when the world expects them to stay quiet. Her debut novel, She Loved Them Both, began as a whispered tribute to her grandmother and grew into a tale of fire, war, and wild love.

By day, Sarah teaches high school English at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. By night, she creates funny, offbeat coloring books, DnD-inspired games, and sells a collection of handmade purses—including some one-of-a-kind pieces passed down from her Granny—through her store, Leather & Lore.

She believes in loud voices, unapologetic women, and stories that leave a mark.
